    Highlights of South Africa Itinerary:

    Day 1: Arrival in Cape Town

    Upon arrival off your international flight, you will be met by a transfer representative who will assist you to your transfer vehicle. An English-speaking driver will then transfer you from Cape Town International Airport to Southern Sun Waterfront, where you will overnight for 4 nights. Cape Town is addictive and inspires discovery and has been voted as the best place in the world to visit by the prestigious New York Times. This vibrant multicultural city is a healthy mix of urban and convenient living, “vibey” day and night spots, nature and relaxation as well as the ocean and white sand beaches at your fingertips. Ride the revolving cable car to the sky on Table Mountain; shop at the V&A Waterfront, one of Africa’s premier shopping destinations; stand on the edge of the world at Cape Point or delve into South Africa’s past at Robben Island, the prison that once held one of the world’s greatest heroes, Nelson Mandela. The “Mother City”, the “Green City”, the “Tavern of the Seas"…whatever name you give it, it stays beautiful and beckons to be explored—the more, the better.

    Day 2: Cape Town

    Today you will be collected from your hotel for your Scheduled Guided Half Day Morning Table Mountain & City Tour Drive past famous landmarks such as the Castle of Good Hope built in 1666, City Hall, and the Grand Parade. Driving through famous Adderley Street, we will see St. George’s Cathedral: The Anglican Diocese of Nobel Peace Laureate Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Pass the Company Gardens and the Malay Quarter which is situated on the slopes of Table Mountain where slaves were settled. Continue to join a sparkling tour, witness the art of diamond cutting and the careful craftsmanship of jewellery manufacturing by skilled experts. You will be offered the option of continuing to Table Mountain, where you can ascend to the top (weather permitting) by the revolving cable car (for own account). Here you'll see phenomenal views, including Robben Island. Visit to the Castle of Good Hope (time permitting). Table Mountain (weather permitting) Guests will take a trip to the top of the world, high above the clouds on the famous Table Mountain. Table Mountain is an icon in Cape Town and is most likely the most photographed landmark in the country. Table Mountain has been named as on the seven wonders of nature and attracts millions over visitors from all across the globe, in fact, since the opening of the aerial cableway in 1929; more than 22 million people have taken the trip to the top. At the upper cable station, guests will find a restaurant and a curio shop as well as some footpaths for exploration. You will be returned to your hotel after the tour for the rest of the day to be spent at leisure.

    Day 3: Cape Town

    Today you will be collected from your hotel for your Scheduled Guided Full Day Cape Peninsula Tour. Start your tour by heading towards Cape Point: the scenic drive will take you to the south western tip of the Cape Peninsula. Meander along the Atlantic coast, passing Sea Point, Camps Bay and the Twelve Apostles mountain outcrops. Once at Hout Bay you can take an optional boat trip to Seal Island (for own account & time permitting) to see the Cape Fur Seals. Next we travel to the Cape Point Nature Reserve with its abundant fauna and flora and you have the opportunity to ride in the Funicular (optional and for your own account). We continue along False Bay with a stop at historic Simons Town to visit the Penguin colony at Boulders Beach (for own account) passing the village Fish Hoek. Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens is next before returning to Cape Town. You will be returned to your hotel after the tour for the rest of the day to be spent at leisure.

    Today you have a Leisure Day (unescorted) to explore on your own.

    Day 5: Cape Town - Oudtshoorn

    Today you will be collected from your hotel for your Scheduled Guided Garden Route, Safari & Winelands group tour. This morning you will be met at your hotel by your representative and depart for the ‘Little Karoo’, travelling via Montagu, a picturesque and historic spa town. En route, stop off in the town of Barrydale, where we will have the opportunity to visit a local farm school, interact with the children and teachers, spending time with them in the classroom learning more about the local farming community, before continuing to Oudtshoorn, the “ostrich feather capital” and centre of the world’s Ostrich farming industry. (The school visit is subject to the school being open)

    Day 6: Oudtshoorn - Knysna

    After breakfast take a tour of the spectacular limestone caverns of the Cango Caves, one of the world’s great natural wonders, sculpted by nature through the ages. Return to Oudtshoorn for a tour and light lunch at an Ostrich Farm. Our journey continues over the scenic Outeniqua Pass to George, the administrative hub of the Garden Route area and then onto Knysna, known as the oyster box of South Africa, nestling on the banks of a beautiful lagoon in the heart of the Garden Route.

    Day 7: Knysna

    Enjoy a lagoon cruise to the Featherbed Nature Reserve, where we can take a trailer ride to the top of the Western Head to enjoy panoramic views of the town and lagoon, returning for lunch. The afternoon is at leisure to further explore this charming town set around a natural harbour lagoon.

    Day 8: Knysna - Albertinia

    After a leisurely breakfast, travel via George and Mossel Bay to Albertinia, a town set against the backdrop of the majestic Langeberg Mountain Range. Enjoy an afternoon open vehicle game drive, at a malaria free private game reserve, that is home to an abundance of animal and birdlife, including the Big Five.

    Day 9: Albertinia - Hermanus

    Our safari adventure continues with an early morning open vehicle game drive. Our expert guide will endeavour to spoil us with sightings of the “Big Five”, general game and prolific bird life. Leaving the bush behind, our journey will take us to the picturesque Cape Dutch town of Swellendam. This charming town was founded in 1745 and is famous for its youngberries, eclectic architecture and National Parks, as well as outdoor activities. Our journey further continues to the seaside resort of Hermanus, known as the heart of the whale route, offering the best land-based whale watching (Aug-Nov) in the world.

    Day 10: Hermanus - Cape Town

    After a leisurely breakfast depart Hermanus and travel to Franschhoek, a picturesque village surrounded by spectacular vineyards, where French Huguenots settled more than 300 years ago, bringing with them their age-old French wine and food culture. Our story telling guide will take us on a tour through Franschhoek village, sharing with us the fascinating history of the French Huguenots. Then finally onto Cape Town, the oldest city in South Africa, spectacularly set at the foot of Table Mountain where the tour ends on arrival.
